Installing Udpxy on Synology DS411

Browsing the Internet I’ve found nice peace of software called Udpxy. Since I already have IPTV and NAS (Synology DS411), I decided it would be nice to have this software running on my NAS because that would allow me to watch my IPTV from any place, even on slow networks or places where IGMP is unsupported.

I you want to have this software running on your NAS, proceed with the following steps:Ceoec

That’s it. To watch the IPTV channel use an address in the following format:
http://{nas-ip}:{udpxy-port}/udp/{channel-ip}:{channel-port}
for example:
http://MY-NAS:5555/udp/239.255.1.3:5000

I’ve tested this setup on my DS411 and haven’t faced any problems so far but I can’t guarantee it would work on other models or different network setups. Feel free to try it and write a comment here if you having issues running it.

  2. set automake, gcc earned.

    There is no daemon at startup. run manually.
    line 15: Make the script executable – ok(no messages)
    line 16: Start udpxy:
    ./udxpy.sh start
    -ash: udxpy.sh: not found

    Sorry for the ugly language. I take a translator.
    Use Synology 212j.

    should be: ./udpxy.sh start

    A little notice – for clear device “just form a box” you need also install gcc:
    ipkg install gcc

  8. I use DS1511 and I have adapted procedure to use latest UDPXY code base, but I ran into following problems:
    1) gcc not found -> reinstalled manually
    wget http://ipkg.nslu2-linux.org/feeds/optware/syno-i686/cross/unstable/gcc_4.2.1-5_i686.ipk
    ipkg gcc_4.2.1-5_i686.ipk
    2) /usr/local/etc/rc.d/udpxy.sh start
    Segmentation fault (core dumped)
    I tried uninstalling/source download/make/install without luck.
    Any idea on how to troubleshoot this and eventually fix it?

  9. I’ve been trying to compile this also on a DS214 with an armv7l processor, but I got an error related to the usage of VFP registers.

    gcc -o util/mkdep util/mkdep.c
    /opt/lib/gcc/arm-none-linux-gnueabi/4.2.3/../../../../arm-none-linux-gnueabi/bin/ld: ERROR: /lib/libc.so.6 uses VFP register arguments, util/mkdep does not
    /opt/lib/gcc/arm-none-linux-gnueabi/4.2.3/../../../../arm-none-linux-gnueabi/bin/ld: failed to merge target specific data of file /lib/libc.so.6
    collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

    Making a [release] version (use ‘debug’ target as an alternative)
